II. The Heart of a Craftsman: Meeting the Requirements

Step 1 : After our designer reviewed the requirements, the first thing he said was, "This is not just a backpack; it's a living load adaptation system." Over the next two weeks, we focused on studying the behavioral habits of medium and small-sized dogs. Based on our findings, we began designing the main fabric, bottom support materials, and opening structure to ensure everything was both functional and comfortable. Step 2 : After confirming the concept sketches, everything progressed smoothly. Based on the client's requirements, we provided solutions for each specific need:

1. Scene Intelligent Adaptation — We designed an adjustable, expandable opening. For daily walks, the opening can be loosened for comfort, while for cycling, the adjustable buckle allows the opening to be tightened according to the dog's neck size, ensuring safety during rides.

2. Lightweight Design — For the main fabric, we chose CORDURA, which reduces the weight by 30% compared to traditional nylon and enhances durability by 2x. This ensures the backpack remains lightweight without compromising on strength and abrasion resistance.

3. Canine Ergonomic Interior Design — Through observing dog behaviors, we discovered that the "comfortable position" for dogs in a backpack is not sitting upright, but rather with their front paws resting on the edge and their bodies tilted at a 15-degree angle, a "lookout position." 5. Shock Absorption Design — The bottom of the backpack uses a combination of PP board and 15mm hardened EVA foam, effectively supporting the dog's weight and providing shock absorption. This design helps reduce the impact from bumps and vibrations during cycling, alleviating discomfort for the pet, especially in their joints.

6. Scientific Storage — We designed adjustable storage pockets on both sides of the backpack. The upper part of each pocket includes a secure webbing strap, allowing for the storage and secure attachment of long items such as an umbrella, water bottle, or other travel essentials. 

7. Waterproof and Breathable — The bottom of the fabric is coated with a waterproof layer, while both sides of the backpack feature large mesh ventilation windows made of PVC material. These mesh windows allow for natural airflow during cycling, creating an internal air circulation system thanks to the pressure difference from the wind. 

8. Emergency Release Function — A simple yet efficient design: one quick-release buckle and a vertical zipper running along the entire length of the backpack. With this mechanism, the backpack can be fully opened in just 3 seconds, allowing the owner to quickly remove the dog in an emergency.

9. Safety Protection System — The backpack is equipped with a safety anti-detachment buckle, which can be used in conjunction with the dog’s collar to ensure that the dog remains securely in place during emergency braking. The reflective strips are positioned on the shoulder straps (not covering the entire bag) to avoid strong light interference with the rider’s focus while ensuring visibility to oncoming traffic.
